Cambodian-French Athlete Breaks National Backstroke Record at Asian Games

HANGZHOU: Cambodian-French swimmer Antoine de Lapparent broke Cambodia’s record for the men’s 50m backstroke at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China on September 25, finishing in 26.77 seconds.

Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), Vath Chamroeun, said that Cambodia hopes to win medals in six or seven sports at the Asian Games, including cricket, wrestling and martial arts.

One hundred and fourteen Cambodian athletes are among the 12,000 from 45 countries and regions competing in this year’s games. King Norodom Sihamoni attended the opening ceremony for the games on September 23.
